Down in Montreal’s Old Port is this awesome clock tower. // Il y a dans le vieux port de Montréal est cette tour de l’horloge fantastique.

Thanks to a friend visiting from the UK, I had the perfect excuse to take a long weekend off work and play tourist in my adopted city. An afternoon meandering around the banks of the Saint Lawrence river, and we ended up at the foot of this curiosity. // Grâce à la visite d’un ami d’ Angleterre, j’ai eu une excuse parfaite pour prendre un congé du travail et être un touriste dans ma ville d’adoption. Un après-midi, nous sommes arrivé au pied de la tour.

An overview of the clock tower is pretty well covered on the official page. I was surprised to learn that the clock itself was constructed in the UK, in Croydon (just south of London) and an exact replica of Big Ben. // On peut lire une vue d’ensemble ici pour apprendre plus de la tour. J’ai été surpris de découvrir que l’horloge à été fabriquée de l’Angleterre dans la ville de Croyden, au de le sud de Londres. C’est aussi une copie exacte de l’horloge « Big Ben ».

If you fancy a climb up it yourself, the tower is open to the public. Be prepared for 192 steps, little in the way of air ventilation and having to navigate your way through small spaces filled with people. I can assure you it’s worth it for the views over the Old Port though. // Si vous avez envie de monter dans la tour, elle est ouverte au public. Soyez préparé à grimper 192 marches, d’avoir peu de circulation d’air et beaucoup de gens dans un petit espace. Je peux vous assurer que la vue en vaut la peine.

Oh, and if you want to chill out after the climb, there’s an artificial beach at the foot of the tower. // Aussi, si vous voulez relaxer après la montée, il y a une plage au bas de la tour.
